Berry College Political Science Professor Earns Teaching Award

Berry College Professor Kirsten Taylor was recently awarded the Vulcan Materials Company Teaching Excellence Award.

Established in 1991, the Vulcan Awards annually honor an outstanding professor on selected member campuses of the Georgia Independent College Association.

The $1,000 award recognizes an outstanding faculty member who demonstrates strong academic skills in the classroom and provides leadership and support in the other areas of campus life. The recipients are faculty who assist the institutions in nurturing an academic climate which fosters teaching and who provide leadership to enhance the campus community.

Taylor is Dana Professor of Political Science and International Affairs and faculty advisor to Berry’s Model United Nations club. Her teaching and research interests include international security, global environmental politics and law, U.S. foreign policy, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. She has co-authored textbooks on international relations and US foreign policy.

She has Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in political science from McGill University in Quebec, and a B.A. degree in political science and history from the University of Pittsburgh.
