The Revolutionists Opens Nov. 15

The Berry College Theatre Company will open their second show of the season Nov. 15 with a double-casted production of the witty comedy, "The Revolutionists."

The show runs Nov. 15-19, Wednesday to Saturday at 7 p.m. with matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are available online at: berry.edu/onstage

Funny, touching, and sometimes a little violent, The Revolutionists is a story detailing four women’s lives during the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror; it is appropriate for ages 13 and up.

The four historical women featured in “The Revolutionists” are Olympe De Gouge, a famous playwright, Charlotte Corday, an assassin, Marianne Angelle, a Haitian rebel and Marie Antionette, the former queen of France. These roles are double-cast and feature two different groups of student performers. The “Ribbons” cast will perform the period version of the play while the “Quills” cast will give a contemporary performance.

“I decided to double cast The Revolutionists by Lauren Gunderson to give our female theatre students at Berry the opportunity to work on the skills they've been learning in their theatre courses," said director Jennifer Bradford. "The two casts are very different and because of that, we have been required to really think about how to showcase their talents while maintaining the integrity of the work. It's inspiring to see everyone grow in their role and artistry here at Berry,”
